BIO

Daniel Durrett is a San Francisco based singer/songwriter/producer and multi-instrumentalist.

At the young age of 8, Daniel began his musical adventure in The Battle Creek Boychoir. His musical foundation came from teachings based on the Royal School of Church music in England. A few years later, Daniel found himself being transplanted from the United States to Wiesbaden, Germany. There, Daniel joined the Wiesbadener Knabenchor and continued to study vocal from a classical perspective. He also began learning Piano as well.

Living in Europe brought many influences upon Daniel and he began branching out from his classical training. He started to revolt against his teachings and opted for loud, angst-ridden music instead. He joined the marching band as a percussionist and, because of his ability to read music, he was quickly moved to the melodic percussive instruments such as the bells and chimes. He also began learning guitar at this time. Outside of school, Daniel started his first band with his childhood friend and fellow artist, Tilman Junge. The band, which was more of a Nirvana cover band that anything, was appropriately called "Bliss" and featured Durrett on lead vocals and lead guitar. The band even played a few gigs, most notably Durrett's homecoming dance in 1998, complete with a cover of Nirvana's "Rape Me."

Daniel returned to the United States at the age of 18 just in time to start college. He quickly joined Battle Creek based grunge/rock band 'Lake Shore Blue' (formally 'Municipal Green') as a frontman and lead songwriter. While Daniel enjoyed the release of hard rock, he was also having the urge to experiment with sounds, beats and new musical concepts. He started studying Studio Recording at Western Michigan University and began working under the alias Jimmy 2 Sticks - an exploration of digital and analog sound transformations. He has released 7 collections of music as Jimmy 2 Sticks and also has done remix work and production as well. Most notably he is featured on "Digital Bliss Volume 2" with a remix of the Artemis track "Subterranean".

In 2005, Durrett's interest in audio and recording lead him to Chicago and a position at Shure Incorporated. There, he worked in Product Management and lead the charge on development of Shure's first digital microphones. After scoring awards for the products and his name on patents, Daniel left Shure in 2009 to relocate to San Francisco and focus on his music.

Also in Chicago, Daniel formed an experimental multi-media group with fellow musician, Nick Davio. The band, hypermodal, focuses on crossing genres and integrating electronic/acoustic instruments and video into performance art. hypermodal is currently working cross-country on new material.

While Daniel explores his new musical concepts in the Bay Area, one thing is for sure, the evolution of the sound is still his main focus.
